Salisbury rescued a point in Buckinghamshire thanks to a Josh Hedges' goal in additional time.

Salisbury had led through Aiden Elliott-Wheeler's first-half goal, but Nathan Minhas and Matt Lench had turned things around before Hedges scored in added time to give Brian Dutton's side a vital point.

The game started in a cagey manner. Both sides were looking to play direct football from the get-go, causing many turnovers in possession early on.

The better of the early chances fell to the home side, with Nathan Minhas going close to putting Chesham ahead, but Rhys Byrne was on hand to deny the forward and secure the ball.

In the 19th minute, the Whites were able to break away. The ball was passed to Lewis Brown in the middle of the park, who had the awareness and vision to pick out fellow loanee Aiden Elliot-Wheeler. The wide man was able to break into the Buckinghamshire sides’ box and then, skilfully, cut inside the defender and fire the ball past goalkeeper Dillon Addai.

Ten minutes later, Mitchell Weiss, much like in the FA Trophy fixture back in December, had the ball in the back of the Whites’ net. However, the linesman adjudged the Chesham player to be in an offside position, so Salisbury remained ahead.

The disallowed goal resulted in a momentum shift. The hosts started to put Salisbury under a lengthy period of pressure. A couple of golden chances to tap the ball home were squandered at the back post for Chesham just before the referee sounded the whistle for the interval.

The second half started the same way the first had ended, yet this half, the Whites looked more compact at the back and gave the hosts less space to find themselves in the box.

Despite Brian Dutton’s side's encouraging attempt to keep Chesham out, in the 69th minute, striker Minhas was able to twist and turn in the Salisbury box and get his shot off. The strike was clean and beat Byrne to level affairs.

The hosts were fired up after the equaliser and flipped the game on its head by taking the lead in the 82nd minute through Matt Lench. The player was alert in the box after a scrappy passage of play. The ball then landed at the feet of Lench, who kept his cool and was able to stroke the ball home.

Dutton turned to his bench to inject more energy into his side for the final encounters. Josh Hedges and Craig Fasanmade were called into action.

The fourth official signalled six additional minutes, which inspired the Salisbury players, who found a second wind.

In the 94th minute, Lewis Brown sent an aerial ball forward towards substitute Hedges who elegantly gained control of the ball before spotting Addai off his line, the forward dinked the ball over the goalkeeper to rescue a point for the Wiltshire side sending the away support into pandemonium.
