As the season enters its final ten matches, Salisbury face Enfield Town in a relegation six-pointer at the Ray Mac this Saturday.

Brian Dutton’s side have not won in the last six matches, with two points collected from draws against Chesham United and, most recently, Aveley on Monday evening in a two-two draw.

Callum Watts had given Salisbury the lead in the first half with a stunning strike from the edge of the box, before two second half goals from David Kawa and David Hicks for Aveley turned the game on its head. Salisbury pushed deep into stoppage time for an equaliser, and it came from Salisbury’s captain, Josh Sommerton, who headed home in the ninth minute of added time.

Salisbury’s manager has issued a rallying call for the local community as the club fights for its status in the Vanarama National League South, saying, “At the end of last season, we felt the difference that support made. It helped get us over the line and win promotion to this division, and now we need that support to help keep us here.”

Enfield’s form had picked up recently with four wins on the bounce, but since then, they have lost four matches in a row, the last of which came on Saturday, 1st March. A defeat at home to league leaders Dorking Wanderers kept Enfield in the bottom four.

When the two sides met earlier in the season, it was once again a late Salisbury goal that reduced a point on that day.

Enfield had taken a late lead through Adam Thompson in the 88th minute before Callum Watts denied the home side all three points when he equalised in the sixth minute of added time.

Tickets for Saturday’s match can be purchased in advance on the club website – https://www.salisburyfc.co.uk/tickets/ – saving supporters £1 compared to walk up prices.

The club’s bars will be open in time for Nottingham Forest V Manchester City game, which will be shown on the big screen. You will need to have purchased a ticket to access the bars.
