Tomorrow evening (Tuesday 25th February), Salisbury and Bath City complete their fixture treble this season as they meet at the Ray Mac.
Having met in the FA Cup at the Ray Mac and in the League at Twerton Park, the return league fixture set’s up the final installment in this season’s trilogy of fixtures.
The Romans have bragging rights so far, winning in both the cup and league fixtures by a single goals difference.
First in the FA Cup, Bath won at the Ray Mac back in September. A tight game was settled in added time when Alex Fisher ended Salisbury’s hopes of a cup run at the first hurdle. Salisbury had led through an early Josh Hedges goal before Jordan Tilson had equalised in the second half.
Then in the first league meeting this season in November, it was a single goal at the midway point of the first half from Jordan Alves which was enough to take all three points from the game.
Like Salisbury, Bath have been in mixed form of late and find themselves looking over their shoulders one place and one point above the Whites.
On Saturday, Bath lost by three goals to nil away at Maidstone United, with three goals in the second half from Greenidge, Blair and Seaman wrapping up the points for the home side.
After the game, Darren Way said that his side had a positive first half, but Maidstone capitalised on lapses of concentration in the second half.
Salisbury also lost at the weekend away to Worthing. Brian Dutton’s side fought hard after taking a first half lead through Noah Coppin. High flying Worthing though piled on the pressure which eventually paid off in the second half with three quick-fire goals that turned the game around.
Brian Dutton said after the game that he was pleased by the effort of his players despite the defeat.
He also restated the importance of having a good backing at the Ray Mac for the game.
