Salisbury FC is delighted to announce that Josh Sommerton has extended his contract with the club and becomes its first team captain.

Sommerton, 24, has clocked up over 200 appearances for Salisbury since signing for the club as a 17-year-old at the start of the 2017/18 season.

The new contract will see him stay with the club until the end of the 2025/26 season.

In his seventh season with the club, Sommerton has progressed along with the club and arguably has been the most consistent performer so far this season. He has impressed as he and the club stepped up to the second tier of non-league football.

As a player, he has a great connection with the supporters and deserves the tag ‘one of our own’ as is often sung from the terraces by Whites’ supporters.

On securing Josh’s signature for another season, Salisbury manager Brian Dutton said, “I am delighted for Josh Sommerton, he’s one of the clubs own who, has had a fantastic season.

“He’s thought of in a very high regard by everyone at the club, and I couldn’t think of a player more deserving of the honour as Salisbury FC Captain anymore than Josh.

“We are planning for the future, and Josh is integral for that, and we’re all delighted he has committed his future to the Football Club.”
